World Summary

Vision

turn empathy into collective action in a hyperconnected world

Empathy, one of our great strengths as humans, makes us gather information from people from all over the world. It is because we care we got overloaded, polarized, confused and stuck in information. AI augmented decision making tools turn this information into collective insights and make individual participation in collective decisions relatable, transparent and effective. Perception and action are reunited.

Transformative technology

AI augmented collective decision making tools

Act as trusted mediators, collect and cluster opinions and priorities, visualize their inner dependencies (budget allocation changes, policy contradictions, time horizons), generate change proposals, test majority appeals and integrate feedback from a million voices into coherent policy proposals.

What kind of AI exists in your world?

Cheap multimodal AI models organize much of our daily life and differ slightly on how they balance privacy, performance and pricing, whether they are managed by companies (mostly), state actors or NGOs and what cultural and linguistic background is dominant.

Frontier models are heavily regulated by the state. They are tool AI to automate science and constantly produce surprising scientific breakthroughs in all domains of life. Investments in compute, energy and data collection are enormous.

New or Reformed Institution

A UN organization called International Artificial Intelligence Organization (IAIO) works on international standards for AI regulation and is supported by the IPAI (Intergovernmental Panel on Artificial Intelligence). After the turbulent twenties, the need for international regulation solidified among the leading nations and although there is an arms race going on under the surface, each has an interest in formal exchange and coordination of AI developments.

Transformed Sector

governance

People felt lost in a hyperconnected, fragmented, fast changing world. It was increasingly difficult to see individual contribution to community, make sense of information, control change. By 2035 collective decision-making started to scale with the help of AI. The executive function of society got its first upgrade since a 100 years: from representative elections to AI mediated real-time integration of millions of voices with visible accountability and understandable decisions. Trust returned.

A Major Crisis Overcome

Wrong economical incentives polarized our media and trust in political participation eroded. A rebuild needed to address complexity, ambiguity and constant change while preserving freedom of expression and fair elections. New decision making tools optimized for mediation/conflict negotiation are based on the foundational belief that all human values are needed depending on context. While political camps focus on different human values, they have an equal right to exist and complement each other.
