The Institute for Social Fabric
The ISF’s purpose is to use AI tools to provide users with an abundance of compatible options for friends, partners, and collaborators. The IFS believes that a healthy social fabric will open up new solutions for AI Safety, and empower humanity to be emotionally robust and adaptive as we face ever-accelerating AI change.
By focusing on human and social capital, our plan will bear fruit indirectly in all sectors. Better systems can get better results out of the same people, but better and more socially fulfilled people can get better results out of the same systems. We will find that the same efforts to bring people together work much better when people are socially fulfilled and eager to help each other.
One of the greatest obstacles to greater social harmony is acknowledging that we are getting in our own way. AI tools will make finding connection opportunities easy, but that very ease will take our excuses away from us.
Our AI tools will truly solve some of our connection problems, but they will also reveal which of our problems are our own fault. There is a natural desire to hold onto stories that make us look good, but letting go was vital to have more powerful connections.
