I’m Divinegift Morris from Oloibiri, NextVillage’s first AI Ambassador working in Community—the village economists finally learned to count. By 2035, 2,400 communities across West Africa run on shared phones and models we trained under Elder Councils, where children learn astrophysics in Ijaw as we transition from objects of study to primary investigators contributing original research.
This solves digital exclusion by running low-resource AI locally on old solar phones. In 2035, life is self-reliant: the Elder Council governs data, and locals are paid as primary researchers, not guides. AI assists daily, even watching a fishing net to teach the next generation.
We use AI as a deeply integrated Tool AI, not an autonomous force—it acts as an extension of community memory and utility. It is co-built by local communities and tech hubs using 23 years of local data. Personal companions live on shared phones to tutor youth and help launch businesses. Ecological models protect our rivers by predicting floods and flagging oil spills, while cultural models preserve sacred oriki and fishing songs. The community owns the knowledge; the AI simply carries it.
REFORMED SECTOR
The primary institution is the Community Sector. Its purpose is to measure, fund, and grow the uncounted local labor that makes society work—like grandmothers teaching river currents, elders mediating disputes, and youth caring for children. Once ignored, this formalized sector provides the economic soil for farming and weaving. Taught at UNIPORT and MIT, its ultimate purpose is to reverse the brain drain: paying youth to stay and build instead of leaving.
By 2035, Community transformed from uncounted village labor into West Africa’s fastest-growing economic sector, scaling to 2,400 self-governed hubs. This matters because it democratized knowledge: hubs serving 240 locals daily operate entirely on local funding—costing just ₦200/month per household. By refusing corporate buyouts, we kept our identity intact. Our people are no longer objects of study; they are primary researchers with their names on the papers.
We faced four barriers: no teachers, internet, tuition, or outside belief. We didn’t solve them; we dissolved them. We bypassed the teacher shortage by training 60 dropouts as Ambassadors. We erased the internet barrier by running models completely offline on shared phones. We eliminated tuition through local funding so no grant could cut us. Most importantly, we proved we were enough: Uncle Pere co-authored the 2033 IPCC paper, yet he couldn’t read English in 2026.
